I smiled and nodded acknowledgement. All I had to do was flip the switch; I did. Still sitting on the bed, I placed my feet on the floor and closed my eyes and thought of one good thought. As that good thought turned into a great one I envisioned a door slowly cracking open, emitting just a sliver of light. As the next great thought turned into one greater still, the door in my mind opened even more allowing more and more to shine through. A broader smile broke across my face as more and more pleasant thoughts entered my mind. By the time I opened my eyes, I had completely kicked that door off its hinges and the light flooded my mind. The thoughts kept coming and coming—I was standing behind a podium in front of a room full of people, all of them smiling and applauding; I was handing over a manuscript for publication; I was signing autographs for my book; I was depositing a check for ten million dollars; I was sitting in a small café in Spain, drinking wine and looking across the ocean’s horizon; I was dancing with a beautiful señorita as the sun fell into the water. All of these thoughts flooded my mind at once and I continued to allow them (and others) to do so until my mind was fit to burst. I inhaled deeply and smiled. My insides exploded like a dying star in the universe. Everything was as it should be. Today, tomorrow, and the rest of my life are mine."
